"For each of us there is some mission in life if we but find it. All have some definite thing to do, something for which they have been created; and only the doing of this thing will justify their existence here on earth. If we come into the world and occupy space and time without giving back for this privilege, we have not justified ourselves, and our lives in the end are barren." ~ Hay

Global Meditation 12.12.12 - Be a Part of History!

I am very happy to share with you this video that I’ve been working on with a very talented group of people.  The video is humanitarian and recommends your participation in a Worldwide Global Meditation on December 12, 2012.  The event will take place in the Eastern Hemisphere at 9:30 pm Tokyo, Japanese Standard Time and 9:30 pm New York, Eastern Standard Time.  (Visit: www.themastershift.com for more details.)
The idea is for a mass amount of people to focus positive thoughts upon the planet, each other and themselves.  As you may already know, we send out vibrations into the ether, either positive or negative, which has an effect on the world in which we live.  It is time to shift those vibrations upward to create a new paradigm.
The idea for this project came from a sentence I read from a book called “Edgar Cayce on Angels” by Robert J. Grant.   It said, “Ten people can save a city from destruction by sincerely meditating and praying for peace.  Twenty can save a nation.  I instantly thought, “I can get twenty people!  That’s easy!”  Then my mind started to wander…  ”WHAT IF I CAN GET THE ENTIRE WORLD!”  So here we are.  This is a result of my very creative and restless mind.  Please share with your email contacts and your social media sites.  Hope to see you on 12.12.12.  Enjoy!

**By the way, this video is now being translated into eight different languages!

Getting O-U-T of Jury Duty…

Reporting for Jury Duty
This past week, I was called by the County Court system to serve on a jury.  I wasn’t happy about it.  I can honestly say this is the busiest I have ever been in my entire life.  Immersed in projects, there is no way I can mentally be present to serve on a jury.  I barely have time to spend with my children who are home from college this summer.  It’s all good.  I’m not complaining.  I am loving life these days!
I have nothing but respect for the basic principles on which our judicial system was founded.  After all, my husband is a Political Science Professor who specializes in the Supreme Court.  I do, however, have reservations about the current jury system.  First of all, I don’t like being told that I have “no choice” that I MUST report for jury service.  That violates my principle of freedom.  Making me do something against my will feels oppressive.  That taxpayer dollars had to be spent to “pay me” to get out of jury duty is a horrible waste of money.  There are plenty of people I know who love serving on juries and get excited receiving the summons and I know of others who just throw it in the trash.  But, at least money isn’t wasted on someone like me who had to go “just to get out of it.”
I also found it terribly offensive to have to go through armed guards and metal detectors on my way into the jury pool.  I didn’t volunteer to go there…remember…they asked me!  Not sure when they added this little step since I haven’t been called to a jury since 20 + years ago.  I had to sit in a very large room and wait for my name to be called.  They had people line up in the center isle of the room and file into the questioning room one-by-one, like sheep.
The case that I was questioned to serve on happened seven years ago!  Seriously, what happened to a statue of limitations!  It involved a woman who had an accident and was injured, not seriously, she had quality of life and could work.  The defendant admitted it was his fault and covered all of her medical expenses.  The woman (plaintiff) was seeking additional monies for pain that had she suffered.  It would be my job as a juror to decide if her injuries met the “law” that said she was injured enough to get additional monies.  In addition, it was requested of me to determine if the doctors made her injuries seem worse than they were.  And…did I mention this happened SEVEN years ago!
I sat in a room of 20 plus people and was the only one asking questions.  I felt like it was the “Christine Show.”  I was basically trying to decide if this case was worthy of my time and attention.  Why these two attorneys couldn’t work something out is beyond me.  It seemed odd.  After barraging them with question, I was excused.
For some reason, there is a fundamental belief that if one doesn’t want to serve on a jury it is “un-American.”  To that I say, “It is un-American not to have a choice.”  Of course, I love my country.  I also love the planet and the universe in which we all live.  Just because I choose not to spend my time on a jury doesn’t mean that I do not carry love in my heart for my country.  My freedom of choice allows me to participate in humanitarian projects where I donate most of my time.  This is where I can be the most effective in the “solution” to the world’s problems.
I hope the jury system improves when I return in six years.  Hopefully, all those frivolous lawsuits will vanish and people will learn how to work things out without taking up the time of others.  I realize this is not feasible all of the time, but our jury system (founded upon brilliance) has turned into a horse and pony show…..

Smiling because I'm done for another six years!

Oh Those Mosquitoes….

It was very warm this past winter in the Northeast and around the country.  I can recall only a dusting of snow.  Because the weather didn’t stay consistently low for a period of time, the bugs didn’t die off.  The consequence is a buggier summer.  We are feeling the effects of that now.  The County has been spraying for mosquitoes with some chemical concoction, which isn’t safe for humans, wildlife or plants.  A common sense approach is much better when dealing with those nasty summer bugs.
I have been outdoors this summer quite a bit and have been bitten numerous times, especially on my legs.  Actually, that’s not true.  They like to bite me anywhere they find skin.  I have always assumed that there is something special about my blood that they actually like; I’m an O negative.  It could be that my blood is sweeter than the other types (or maybe I just am…lol).  I can sit outside with others and they won’t get a single bite and mosquitoes are all around me.  Who knows why they are attracted to some people rather than others.
That said….I won’t use mosquito repellant on my skin.  It is full of chemicals usually the chemical DEET appears in some percentage.  I don’t want these chemicals to enter my bloodstream and cause damage to my internal organs.  Fortunately, there are natural substances you can use that will not cause your body harm and will repel mosquitoes.
Here is a list of ten natural substances that repel mosquitoes.  Take your pick?
1.       Castor Oil
2.       Cinnamon or Cinnamon oil.
3.       Citronella Oil
4.       Garlic Oil
5.       Lavender Oil
6.       Lemons, Lemon Juice
7.       Lemon Balm
8.       Neen Oil
9.       Peppermint Oil
10.   Tea Tree Oil
Since I am heading out this evening, I will try rubbing my body in lemon juice.  It does leave a coating or film on the skin.  I think I would rather smell like lemons then garlic.  I wouldn’t want to repel the wrong thing.

Lemons repel mosquitoes!

The Advertising of Unhealthy Food is OUT OF CONTROL!

I just got home from a workshop in New Jersey.  I took the train into Penn Station, NYC and then a Path train to Jersey City.  While in Penn Station, I noticed this painted staircase.  Actually, there was another staircase to the right that said, “Grab and Go.”
Painted Staircase in Penn Station, NYC

I honestly couldn’t believe it!  Why do we continually allow the promotion of harmful substances to the body?  Study after study shows that soda is bad for you, yet it is advertised everywhere and people continue to drink it daily... WHY?!  How can money be more important than someone’s health and well-being?  Yes, it is a choice whether or not to drink soda and eat potato chips, but advertising has conditioned the mind, especially young minds, that it is as American as American pie.  No wonder so many people are overweight and children are getting diabetes.
It is not healthy to snack.  If you have three healthy, filling meals a day, you do not need to snack.  The body needs time for digestion and repair.  If you are continually filling your body with food every few hours, the body doesn’t have time to digest the previous meal and it will begin to decay and rot in your intestines.  Try eating only three times a day and make each meal a healthy, filling one.  You will see a big difference in how you look and feel.  There is no need to ever eat potato chips or drink poison, oops, I meant soda.
It’s time we promote healthy foods instead of unhealthy ones.  Why not paint a beautiful basket of fruit on the stairs, or paint a piano to encourage exercise like they did in Sweden?

We will get there!  Awareness is a start!  We will succeed in breaking down the conditioned mind.  If everyone switches their choices to healthy ones, potato chip and soda manufactures will be forced out of business.  Maybe that would encourage our Government to pass a “Health Care Act” instead of a “Sick Care Act.”  What do you think?

What the bleep is with all the television sets?

Recently I was in New York City for a wedding.  We took a taxi from the hotel to the ceremony.  Upon entering the back of the cab, there was a television set.  Seriously!  In fact, we took four cab rides and in each cab there was a television set mounted to the back of the front passenger seat.  Why in the world would anybody want to watch television when sitting in the back of a cab in New York City?
Television set now found in NYC cabs

...and in the elevator at the hotel.

Television sets can be found at gas stations, banks and grocery store checkout lines.  They are popping up all over business establishments.
I find it insulting.  Yes….I said insulting!  I don’t need my mind occupied with television everywhere I go.  I purposely have to direct my gaze elsewhere.  I bet you think, no big deal, just look away.  However, it’s basic human nature to look.  When I’m on line at the grocery store and see a television set right in my face, I have to turn my body in a different direction and not look up, especially because “mostly negative news” is on.
I don’t watch television at home.  Mostly because I am too busy and have a lot going on in my life.  When I’m out and about, I don’t need the constant chatter of a television set in my brain.  I am perfectly capable of creating my own chatter.  I recommend that you do the same.  TURN OFF THE TELEVISION SET!  And direct your gaze elsewhere if around one.

How to take care of yourself when you are super busy….

I wish I had time to smell the flowers, but I must get back to work!
Okay…I have to admit, I’m feeling a little drained.  I’ve taken on a bit more than I can chew.   I have immersed myself in many different projects, some small and some quite BIG.  All I can say is keep your eyes peeled on this blog for some fascinating things coming from me the next six months.  I promise you will be amazed!
There are times when you feel you want to take on the world.  In doing so, you get so super busy that you no longer have any time to cook.  In addition, you gulp down meals and forfeit a good night sleep.  SLOW DOWN!  (I feel that if I write the words I will actually listen myself.)  Things will get done.  It’s important to take care of yourself along the way so you do not suffer burnout or get your body in a run-down state.  Here are some suggestions you must do everyday no matter how busy you are;
1.      Get a good night sleep – The most important time for beauty sleep is between the hours of 10:00 pm – 12:00 am.  If I go to bed after midnight, I am exhausted the next day.  Try to quiet the mind then lights out no later than 10:30 pm.  Your body will work more efficiently the next day and you will be able to focus and get more done.  Remember Benjamin Franklin’s famous quote, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.”
2.      Eat only healthy food  – If you are super busy, you need major energy.  Nothing is going to provide energy like whole foods in their natural state.  The crock pot can be your best friend in times like this or set aside a few hours on the weekend to set up dinners for the week.  Better yet, enlist other family members in your house to help.
3.      Breathe - If you have obligations that you must meet and are feeling tired or overwhelmed, just drop your shoulders, sit up straight and take a few deep breaths.  Even if you have to do this every ½ hour or so, it will keep your mind sharp and on task.
4.      Call a Friend – One of the best ways to revitalize yourself and give your mind a short rest is to call a friend.  Set the kitchen timer for 15 minutes and pick up the phone.  Ask the friend to tell you a joke.  Laughter is great medicine for a run-down state.
5.      Go on YouTube – If you are afraid the 15 minutes long conversation will turn into 1 hour, find something funny on YouTube.  I can watch this clip from “Whose Line Is It Anyway” over and over again.  It cracks me up.

I wish I had time to write more!  However, I must get back to work.  Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
